1957 Triumph T110 Desert Sled Update

Back in April 2010 I added to this blog an article on a 1957 Triumph T110 Desert Sled. At that time I was unsure what was to become of it, a fantastic survivor but no where near a running motorcycle so it just sat in my collection until my old friend Robert Jordan from Classic Throttle made an offer that I decided to accept and the restoration was started during the spring of 2011 and was completed November 2010. Here are a few pictures of the bike, most of the surviving cycle parts were retained, a couple of parts had to be fabricated and a Bash Plate was added. 
At first I was not keen on restoring the survivor but after all is said and done I am well pleased with the results. I was able to keep all the essential parts and the outcome in my opinion is exactly how it looked back in the 1950's when it was rumbling through the So Cal Desert.
N.O.S Dunlop 400-19 Trials Universal Tire up front leads the way.
One Inch Bars were replaced as the old ones were tweaked. The Bates seat was fitted with a new leather cover made using the original cover as a pattern paying close attention to the stitch pattern.
Rear Fender was also replaced as the old one was too severely damaged, the bracket was fabricated just as the old one was.
Original cheater sprocket was still good and after cadmium plate is as good as new. Shock Absorbers were replaced.
Engine rebuilt with Harmon Collins Racing Camshafts (retained from the old motor), High Compression Pistons, Oversize Valves, Bronze Guides and Racing Valve Springs. Bast Brothers Bash plate was added to the build. A period part made in Van Nuys back in the '50's, thanks to Paul Gion.
Was able to replace the old perished rubber cover on the quick action racing throttle twistgrip.
Q Air Cleaner assembly looks smashing after paint.
Period Fuel line was an exact replacement as to what was on there.
Bud Ekins Exhaust pipes had various dings and scrapes, they were repaired and re-plated, the rear mounting tabs had to be fabricated as they were held together with bailing wire before.
Brake Vent blanking Plate prevents dirt entering the Hub.
Blanking Plate covers the area where the Generator was fitted ti the Street Bikes. This plate came as a part in the Factory Race Kit.
I was just about to load it onto the truck when the urge overcame me....

Vintage Triumph Motorcycle Promotional Posters and Memorabilia

This collection of Triumph Motor Cycle promotional posters came my way at an auction of inventory from a closed down dealer, Brooks Cyclery in San Jose, they closed their doors back in 1984. A splendid collection of posters and banners. Here are they are in no particular order.
This Mobile is from 1967 and features excellent graphics, swinging sixties and all.
Below is a Poster printed in 1965 for the 1966 Bonneville, Precision, Power and Performance. Smashing colors on all these.
1967 Poster to celebrate Gary Nixon and Geo. Cunha's victories at Loudon and Laconia.
1969 Trident poster for victories at Willow Springs
Very cool double sided hanging Mobile from 1967 sent to dealers to display featuring Triumph Racers Eddie Mulder and Gary Nixon. Measures 21-1/2" across with excellent color graphics, opens out so when properly suspended it would be seen from any point of the dealers showroom.
This Mobile came in it's original box from Johnson Motors with it's mailing date of 1967.
Another 1966 poster, this one for the Tiger 100.

1965 Cycle World Competition Banner. This is a 5 foot high display which at one time had same size posters attached to tear off for a competition held by Cycle World magazine to win a 1965 Bonneville.
The late great Gary Nixon, this banner celebrates him being AMA National Champion, again!
Another Champion, Gene Romero,  raced Twins and Triples, featured here is 750 Trackmaster 750 Twin.
This poster from 1969 for the Bonneville, this is a full size image that was used in the brochure and many center spread magazine ad's.
Triumph racer Skip Van Leeuwen was another Champ, this one celebrates victory at Ascot Park, here in os Angeles.

Bill Baird was an Enduro champion, his preferred mount was the T100C 500cc twin.
This is the only 1950's item from the lot, Sal Scirpo winning the Jack Pine Enduro.
